Hollywood and Vine: Girls' Night Out

After being away from school for so long, it was great to spend last Saturday night reconnecting with some of my girlfriends at a Miss America party. What could be more fun than getting dressed up and sharing chocolate fondue, stories, music and photos at a girls' night out?
We started the night by watching the "Miss America pageant," where 2007 UMD grad, Angela McDermott, represented as Miss Minnesota. Unfortunately, our hometown girl didn't make it to the top 15 but will walk away with a $3,000 scholarship and memories to last a lifetime.
After the swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview portion of the competition were complete, Miss Indiana, Katie Stam, was crowned Miss America 2009. According to the Miss America Web site, she will receive a $50,000 scholarship and will spend the year volunteering and raising money for many charities.
We finished the night with an intense game of Apples to Apples and promised to plan for many more fun parties. A great idea for you, my readers, is to throw your own theme night on Feb. 22, Oscar Night.
