The weekend got off to a fantastic start for the Lady Bulldogs on Friday night. Led by the efforts of senior Jheri Booker, UMD easily dispatched St. Cloud State 79-51. During the rout, the Bulldogs literally defined dominance by holding the Huskies to five baskets in the first half.

While compressing their opponents, UMD also scored 39 points of their own taking a 39-17 point lead into the locker room with them at halftime. For the Huskies the second half was just as frustrating and miserable as the first. Booker, and her teammate junior Katie Haas put in some work in the second half while cruising to an overwhelming victory.

If you're a follower of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NCIS) women's basketball, the name Talisha Barlow should definitely ring a bell. She leads the Huskies in scoring, is currently ranked fifth in the NSIC and she averages 16.4 points a game.

Saturday while hosting the No. 1 ranked Concordia St. Paul Golden Bears, the Lady Bulldogs couldn't hold up to the depth of the Golden Bear bench and fell 83-72. The game was a close contest, with the teams trading leads through regulation. Things changed late when Concordia surged on a 16-4 run putting UMD behind by 17 with just over five and a half minutes to play. Booker's 18 points, coupled with junior Kelsey Hewitt and senior Monica Mayry's double digit tallies of 11 weren't enough to break the threshold, and the Bulldogs faltered.

The loss drove the Bulldogs to a 14-8 overall record. UMD continues NSIC competition next weekend, following their male counterparts southward to face Minnesota-Crookston and Minnesota State Moorhead. Games are set for 6 p.m.
