"Our regular customers are pretty loyal to the market," said Tawny Smith-Savage, one of the coordinators of this year's event. "They don't let [weather] hinder their experience"
Twenty-one vendors set up stands, which featured items such as chocolate, earth-friendly cleaners and hand-made jewelry. One of the featured items at the market on Saturday was maple syrup.
"People forget that maple syrup is really the first crop of the season," Smith-Savage said. "It's our first gift."
Though the regular season for the Farmer's market doesn't start until May 1, the market always celebrates Earth Day. The sign at the entrance of the market read, "Earth Day, Every Day at the Farmer's Market."
"Vendors are kind of using this as their kick off for our May 1 opening," Smith-Savage said.
The Duluth Farmer's market is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. All products featured are grown in St. Louis, Carlton or Lake County in Minnesota.
